The only positive spin possible on the Steelers loss...

Well, the Steelers lost. Naturally I have been too upset to blog all day. After an awesome comeback to tie the game it was so hard to watch them lose.

Anyway too put a positive spin on them losing I looked up weight loss tips from the show The Biggest Loser.
Here are some tips to start the New Year off right – losing like the steelers ;)
1.     Reclaim your power. Only you can make this happen. Act as if your life depends on meeting your weekly goals.
2.     Persist. You can’t fail unless you quit.
3.     Believe.
4.     Seek Support. someone keep you accountable and someone to lean on in tough times
5.     Clean up your kitchen. Don’t keep tempting foods in your house. Make healthy foods and snack readily available instead.
            * I’ve also found its helpful to keep fresh produce and herbs in the kitchen for lots of healthy cooking.
6.     Look ahead. Plan what you will eat when
7.     Fill up on fiber. (whole grains, beans, high fiber cereal, vegetables and fruit)
*my favorite high fiber foods: high fiber oatmeal and asparagus
8.     Be a food snob. Make sure a treat is worth the splurge
9.     Manage the evening. Most eating challenges start at 4 pm. Think about what will help you when you head home for dinner
10. Movement is meaningful. Exercise is not just a way to burn calories, but a means to what you want out of life
11.  Take it one step at a time. When you increase either duration or intensite stick with that change a week to 10 days before making another change
12. Be active! Be an active person, not just a person who exercises. Choose movement everywhere you look. It’s an opportunity not an inconvenience.
13. Don’t fear “bulking up”. As you get older you are far more likely to lose essential muscle by being sedentary than you are to gain unwanted muscle working out
            * kind of a sad thought
14. Give up guilt. Nothing’s worse than working hard on your program and having a treat followed by guilt. Take responsibility for your choices
