Food Republic: A Food Blog For Men

One thing my perfect boyfriend will be: a foodie or at least someone who appreciates food and enjoys cooking.

I hope "my perfict boy" has a few great culinary skills.... but in case he doesn’t he can always read the new (about 1 year old) blog called Food Republic: Eating, Drinking, & Living The Way A Man Should, directed at men who love food. Every day the blog posts articles, recipes, guides etc for men who think about food a lot. And for men who say they don’t love food, Food Republic cleverly disguises the articles in to categories such as “sports crossover” and “better bar food”. One of today’s articles is “Science Speaks on the Crucial Canned Beer Question.” If that doesn’t get a guy’s attention, I’m not sure what will.

Marcus Samuelson, the master of Top Chef and creator of Food Republic has also been a chef in the White House. He cooked for President Obama's first state dinner, which the Indian Prime Minister attended, and made basmati rice. The Indian prime minister ate it and loved it! If he can make basmati rice to pass that test, I feel pretty confident about taking his other food advice!

This Valentine’s Day, my dad is the best man in my life, and luckily he meets my valentine criteria of knowing how to cook. He has manned the grill making perfectly cooked salmon, chicken, steak, and burgers for my whole life. He’s also the best breakfast chef there ever was. One of my favorite parts of my school breaks is being home for his should-be-award-winning french toast. I picked out this article on Food Republic that he will (hopefully) find entertaining.

This article (well more of a short anecdote) says that Rick Santorum, a GOP candidate, and colleague of my dad, had a Guinness and some calamari (my dad and my favorite appetizer) and some sushi and seemed confused about if the sushi was cooked.... Looks like Rick Santorum should learn a little more about food ;)

I enjoyed this website so much, so even though it’s intended for men, I think I will return to keep reading.
