I saw this picture the other day and I absolutely love it. The superbowl is different for me this year because of the obvious - the steelers aren’t in it, but also because I have to find new food to eat during the game!
Watching sports is the hardest part about being a vegetarian for me. I love hot buffalo wings and sports bars have always been my favorite place to go with my dad. We’ve had so many great memories and conversations over a beer and a basket of wings.

However, part of my motivation in going vegetarian was to try new foods and new combinations - this is just another step in the adventure!
Tonight my friends are having a potluck superbowl party so I’m going to take a black bean salsa and some homemade chips.
I had never made chips before but I recently learned that if you cut tortillas in to wedges, cover with a bit of oil, and roast for about 2 minutes on each side (salt to taste!), you can make delicious home made chips
A black bean salsa tastes great with these chips and is high in protein and fiber, and low in fat. Just combine, a can of black beans, diced tomato, onion, cilantro, and about 2 tbsp of lime juice, and you have your super bowl snack!
Enjoy the food and enjoy the game. Go Giants!
